WHAT IS TRUTH?
More than ever before, people are confused about life. They turn to friends, music, sports, and addictive behavior to try and find some sort of relief and comfort in the midst of a crooked world. Various “religious” and “support” groups pull them in many directions claiming to have the answer to their internal void. There is no source of truth in their lives. They have nothing dependable to stand on, and no source of final authority.
It is certain, there is only ONE absolute truth. What truth are you relying on? Your own feelings? Constantly changing philosophies? Perhaps you ignore truth, and hope circumstances will work themselves out. Truth is not relative; truth exists whether you choose to accept it or not. Without truth, life remains unclear without a purpose.
WHERE IS TRUTH?
God is the only source of all wisdom and knowledge. He reveals truth through creation and through is written Word, the Holy Bible. It has been stated that “Bible” can represent the acronym: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
The Bible was wholly inspired by God through men. It was written in three languages, by roughly 40 different authors, over a period of 1600 years. Every prophetic utterance of God to date has been fulfilled. Furthermore, the Scriptures are entirely accurate: historically, scientifically, and geographically. Above all, it contains the power to change lives for all of eternity. No other book or person on earth can claim these truths with such accuracy and evidence.
The Bible says, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17
WHO IS TRUTH?
The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ of Nazareth is truth:
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32
Jesus was born of a virgin, manifesting and establishing himself as God in the flesh. He came to reveal the truth of salvation to everyone who believes on Him.
WHY TRUTH?
We know what is right and what is wrong; what is good and what is evil. There is a moral law written on our hearts that cannot be denied. Doing that which is wrong or evil leaves us feeling guilty and confused. Everyone is guilty of breaking God’s moral law. The Bible calls this sin. Realize that everyone falls short of God’s perfect law.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23
The punishment for sin is death.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
Someday, we will all die. According to His nature, God cannot sin. Because He is righteous and good, He cannot allow sin to dwell in His presence. The judgment for sin is hell. A place of torment and eternal separation from God, intended for Satan and his angels.
Jesus Christ humbled himself for you. He came to this earth to take your punishment for sin, by dying on a Roman cross. He was buried for three days, but rose again from the grave, as He predicted by His own power.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
Jesus loves you. He fulfilled God’s moral law for you. The law proves to us that we cannot live righteous apart from God.
PERSONALLY ACCEPT TRUTH
God created us to fellowship with him. He wants you to live an abundant life with purpose, meaning, and value. He loves you so much that He made a way to redeem you through His Son.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Today, you can accept truth by faith. Trust and believe the external and internal evidence of God. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9
Get alone with God. Humble yourself with an attitude of repentance. Admit you are a sinner in need of forgiveness. Trust alone in the saving power of the resurrection of Jesus. Claim Him as your Savior!
CONTINUE IN TRUTH
Your relationship with God does not end with salvation; it just begins. Find a local Bible believing church to learn more about God’s Word.
